Sexuality: Holy from Birth? Or Corrupt from Birth?

Just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men. Because all sinned!   (Romans 5:12)

In a previous blog entry of mine, entitled “What If,” I responded to the question circulating within the culture about being ‘born that way’.  I’d like to share another fundamental, apologetic response to the same thought: People are “born with a homosexual attraction” in light of the above verse, and these verses that closely follow it.

The creation itself was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to corruption and bought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.  We know that the whole creation has been groaning, as in the pains of childbirth, right up to the present time.   (Romans 8: 21,22)

Everything in creation has been corrupted by sin—including our sexuality.  It is ridiculous, let alone unbiblical, to assert that our sexuality has been untouched by the fall of Adam and Eve.

A Christian cannot believe that everything has been contaminated by sin except one thing: human sexuality.  Preposterous!

God’s original plan and intent for our sexuality—the intent that he set forth before Adam’s sin—is stated clearly in these verses:

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created He them; male and female created He them.   (Genesis 1:27)

For this cause a man shall leave his mother and father and cleave to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.  (Genesis 2:24)

Yet, gay-identity affirming Christians will say that all human sexual feelings are good and holy, including the ‘gay feelings’ and actions that they follow.  If the gay-identity affirming Christian believes sexuality has been uncontaminated by sin, then whatever a person’s sexual attraction (and the actions that follow) must also be good and holy.  This would include incest, bestiality, pedophilia, necrophilia, fetishes, partialisms and so on.

The Bible is clear: everyone’s sexuality has been contaminated by sin. Homosexual attractions and the actions that may follow are the result of the fall of sin upon all creation, including our sexuality.
